Convened by SVhk, the House of Social Innovators (HoSI) is formed by alumnus
of various award winners of HK-based SE-related competitions.
Supported by partners from different sectors,
HoSI connects social leaders with educational resources, professional expertise, and most importantly,
with other passionate individuals who strive to make a difference. The House of Social Innovators is a
foundation where solutions to the most pressing social challenges are conceived, developed, and put into action!
Why do we need the House of Social Innovators?
The journey of a social entrepreneur is rarely easy. Conceiving of an innovative idea is just the first
step on the challenging path of building a successful social venture.
Over the past years, passionate parties in the society have generated brilliant ideas and are recognized through
various competitions, yet most of them have gone in veil due to various reasons, including the lack of network,
manpower, and capital. In order to breed more social entrepreneurs and to encourage people to take a further
step, HoSI is born, by conveying other SE-competition awardees to join as well, it aims to change the status
quo by building a supportive community of social entrepreneurs.
The first program of its kind in HK, HoSI is on-going association to collect various outstanding social
innovative ideas every year, and by providing regular guidance and assessment to different projects, it
hopes to increase the number of implemented and investable social enterprises at the end of a 2-3 year process.
Members & Project Team Structure
Members will be recruited from (i) Award winners & (ii) Non-award winners. After a 2-phase selection process,
members will be grouped based on their expertise and interest, with a maximum of 5 members (1 Awardee +
2 Members nominated by the Awardee + 2 Non-award winners chosen from the public).
Through increasing the collaboration among the two groups, sparking the idea exchange, HoSI hopes to
bring in more innovative thoughts, and increase their capability.
Requirements & Selection Process
- Award Winners
(Can nominate at most 2 members for the idea’s incubation)
- Feasibility & social impact value of the idea
- Passion to incubate & realize the idea
- Non-award winners
- Motivation & determination in the SE industry
- Nomination from a SE-related organization / academia
Phase I – Online application (on or before 12 Aug)
Phase II – Team / Individual interview
As a platform where constant help will be provided to help social entrepreneurs & project
teams till realization after a 2 to 3-year incubation process. Apart from the annual activities
(as mentioned below), including the cocktail reception for team formation; extra help will be
provided by its partners to the projects team on ‘on-call’ basis, e.g. skill-set training,
and further events might be co-organized to mobilize and engage everyone.
