Sightless Sound: The Pure Music Experience
In partnership with Dialogue in the Dark Hong Kong (DiD HK),
SVhk launched Concert in the Dark in 2010, the first professional pop concert conducted in
complete darkness with the participation of the visually impaired. The audience enjoyed a
unique music experience, interacting with visually impaired guides. The event drew major
media appeal, promoting awareness of the abilities of the disabled to the public.
Social Impact
Promoting the Social Participation of People with Disabilities
Building on the efforts of Dialogue in the Dark, the Concert further promotes the
significance of people with disabilities‘ participation in society.
I have immense respect for the visually impaired staff who were involved in stage management positions

Creating Employment for the Visually Impaired
Of the 150 staff working at the Concert, 35 were visually impaired. As Concert guides,
they escorted guests and were responsible for the ‘dark management’ of the concert.
In the dark, guests depended almost entirely on the visually impaired guides for
direction and sense of security.
Creating Immense Media Buzz
Concert in the Dark attracted 55 media partners, including 5 electronic media channels.
The concert created 128 pieces of coverage in daily newspapers, magazines, television
and radio, as well as thousands of hits on online media, like blogs and forums.
The face value of campaign is estimated to be worth over HK$10 million.
